Newsletter/Reminder
DUE ASAP:
Sign up for Sept. Hike/Campout
at Temike. The fee is $10.00 per person
(Sat. dinner and Sun. breakfast). Sign
up no later than Sept. 3rd. Backpackers
(must meet requirements) will need to bring a breakfast and lunch for Sat. and hikers
will need to bring a lunch for on the trail.
The hikers should eat breakfast before meeting at the gap. More details/information will follow.
EXTRA INFORMATION:
The Troop
Website has the 2009-10 schedules. (www.troop-82.com). The
scout’s folders contain the troop schedule, Popcorn fundraiser, SSA (Scout
Service Account) slips.
Note to
parents: All outings sign-up sheets
are posted approximately one month before each outing. Sign-ups/money for the outings are due two
weeks prior to the event or as posted.
NO exceptions
will be made to these deadlines. If the
money is not paid by the deadline date, the scout cannot attend the event. Also, the scout’s parents must sign that it
is ok for their son to go to that outing, or we will classify him as not
attending that event. If the scout
decides he does not want to go to the event, the money is non-refundable.
ALSO, please
sign and return the bottom portion of the outing permission slips. Check if you want to use your SSA or if you
will be paying by cash/check.
REMINDER to parents: Please check the sign-up sheets weekly. A signature is requested in front of the
scouts name for our reference to ensure that the parent has checked their
schedule and it is OK for their scout to attend the event.
****The Troop Parent
Meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2009. Parents please plan to attend this
meeting.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Popcorn Sale – The sale begins now
and will continue through mid-Oct.
Delivery will be 11/21
Sept. 18th-20th –
Campout/Hike Lehigh Gap to Camp Temike (as previously stated).
Oct. 3rd-
Service Project meeting at the Lehigh Canal.
We will be meeting at the canal to be shown what the troop needs to do
at the observation deck. This deck is
approximately 2 miles north of Weissport.
We will be keeping brush cut back and cleaning up litter, etc. Parents are asked to attend for information
on this service project. The patrols
will be taking turns with this project once a month through grass cutting
season (approx. Apr. to Oct.) More
information to follow.
Oct. 9th-11th –
Campout at Trexler. We will have
Pinecrest site and are planning to do a haunted corn maze or haunted woods that
weekend.
Nov. 7th and 14th –
Scouting for Food. (1st week
bag handout, 2nd week is food pick-up).
Nov. 21st-22nd – Bike
Hike/Campout. This weekend we will also
be at Camp Trexler. We will have Hawkeye
site and pavilion. Older scouts will
bike up to Trexler, while the younger scouts or those that do not bike will
meet at the camp.
Jan. 15th -17th – Campout at
Trexler. We will have Hawkeye Lodge and
pavilion.
NEWSWORTHY:
The Troop
Trailer is finished! The shelves
have been repainted, the floor is painted/coated, the walls have been stained
and the stenciling has been completed. A
huge thank-you to Dennis and Tyler Helmer for all their hard work in completing
this task. We have also received the
cargo netting for on the shelves. Once
we restock our supplies it will be ready for use at the Sept. outing.
